The following is a statement from Sam Hayes, executive director of the North Carolina State Board of Elections, on the passage of House Bill 125: Continuing Budget Operations:
“I am extremely grateful to the General Assembly for the passage of House Bill 125, which will help the State Board provide better services to the state’s 7.5 million voters and the 100 county boards of elections moving forward.
This legislation provides $15 million to replace the state’s outdated election management system, which is long overdue. This project is a top priority and will result in more efficient and secure elections for North Carolina voters.
We will soon issue a request for proposals to get this project moving forward and will work to complete this huge undertaking as expeditiously as possible.”
