Candidate List Files
Candidate lists are available at the start of candidate filing periods and are updated daily during the filing period. To see when each PDF was generated, see the time stamp at the bottom of each PDF page. Find more information about each list type below.
Note: These lists are not always final, as lists can change for many reasons and filing periods for some offices are held at different times than others for the same election.
Candidate List Spreadsheets
Files provide candidate information by county for all contests in an election.
- What’s included? They include the date of the election, county name, contest name (Example: NC Governor), name of the candidate on the ballot, as well as the candidate’s address, phone number(s), date of filing and political party. The file also includes information about the contest, such as whether there is a primary, whether the race is partisan, how many candidates’ voters will vote for in that contest, and how long the term of office is for that seat. See the layout file for details. Files specified as containing email addresses include available candidate email addresses.
- When do the files become available? Files without email addresses are available at the start of the filing period and are updated daily during the filing period. They are also updated as needed before an election. Files with email addresses typically become available sometime after the start of the candidate filing period and are updated as needed before an election.
