Statement on Tuesday’s Elections

The State Board of Elections & Ethics Enforcement has been in frequent contact with meteorologists regarding Tropical Storm Irma and its expected effect on elections. At this time, all of Tuesday’s elections will proceed as scheduled in the City of Charlotte, Town of Murphy, and Cleveland County.

The State Board of Elections & Ethics Enforcement has been in frequent contact with meteorologists regarding Tropical Storm Irma and its expected effect on elections. At this time, all of Tuesday’s elections will proceed as scheduled in the City of Charlotte, Town of Murphy, and Cleveland County.

Precincts will open at 6:30 a.m. and close at 7:30 p.m. Those in line when polls close will be allowed to vote.

The State Board will continue to monitor the weather closely and will take any action necessary to ensure the safety of poll workers and voters,” said Kim Westbrook Strach, executive director. “We will post updates on our website and social media accounts.

Unofficial election results may be viewed at the agency’s Election Night Reporting website beginning after polls close Tuesday. Voters can look up their polling location online. Updates will post to the State Board’s websiteTwitter and Facebook accounts.
