RALEIGH, N.C. – On Election Day, Tuesday (November 8), the State Board of Elections will host media availability sessions outside the BOE office, 441 N. Harrington St., Raleigh, NC 27603.
The sessions will be held at 10:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. Please keep an eye on your emails for any updates to this schedule.

We also remind media representatives of guidelines for filming at polling locations:
- Precincts designate a “buffer zone” near the entrance of a polling location. No electioneering or loitering is permitted inside the zone. Members of the media who wish to enter the voting enclosure must get the approval of the chief judge at the precinct. The chief judge may allow the media to photograph or record video inside the voting enclosure, with consent of the voters. The media may notinterview voters within the voting enclosure.
- No voter may be photographed or videoed marking his or her ballot. It is a violation of law to photograph or video a marked ballot. G.S. § 163-166.3(b),(c)
- If you are photographing or videotaping a candidate in the voting enclosure, only the permission of the candidate is required (not the chief judge). G.S. § 163-166.3(b)
The North Carolina State Board of Elections is the state agency charged with overall responsibility for administration of the elections process and campaign finance disclosure in North Carolina. The office of the State Board of Elections works in conjunction with County Board of Elections offices to ensure that elections are conducted lawfully and fairly.
