RALEIGH, N.C. – Absentee voting is underway for the June 7th primary. In an ongoing effort to inform and educate every voter in North Carolina about voter ID requirements, Voter Outreach Specialist Dr. Lee Cooley from the State Board of Elections will speak to voters in Greene County on Thursday, April 21, 2016.
The event is hosted by the Greene County Board of Elections and starts at 7 p.m. at the Greene County Senior Center, 104 Greenridge Road, Snow Hill, NC 28580.
“Having Dr. Lee Cooley in Greene County will give our citizens a chance to learn, be informed, and feel empowered as we prepare for the upcoming elections,” said Director Steven Hines, Jr. of the Greene County Board of Elections. “The Greene County Board of Elections feels that voter education is the cornerstone of the democratic process. We look forward to hosting Dr. Cooley as she shares her experiences and voter resources with us on April 21.”
The seminar will address voter ID requirements and exceptions, including Reasonable Impediment, Absentee Voting, Provisional Ballots and answer the following questions:
- What types of photo ID will be accepted at the polls?
- What can voters do if they don’t have one of the listed acceptable IDs?
- Where can voters get an ID card?
- Is there a charge for a NC ID card?
- What information do voters need to provide to get a NC ID card?
The North Carolina State Board of Elections is the state agency charged with overall responsibility for administration of the elections process and campaign finance disclosure in North Carolina. The office of the State Board of Elections works in conjunction with County Board of Elections offices to ensure that elections are conducted lawfully and fairly.
