Perquimans Voter ID Seminar

In an ongoing effort to educate and inform every voter in North Carolina about voter ID requirements, the State Board of Elections will speak to voters in Perquimans County on Saturday, February 20. The voter education seminar is part of a Black History Month celebration conducted by the “Why Not Perquimans” organization and the Perquimans County NAACP.

RALEIGH, N.C. – In an ongoing effort to educate and inform every voter in North Carolina about voter ID requirements, the State Board of Elections will speak to voters in Perquimans County on Saturday, February 20.

The voter education seminar is part of a Black History Month celebration conducted by the “Why Not Perquimans” organization and the Perquimans County NAACP. Dr. Lee Cooley, Voter Outreach Specialist, will address voters following a showing of the movie “Selma”.  

The event starts at 10 a.m. and will be held at Perquimans High School Auditorium, 411 South Edenton Road Street, Hertford, NC.

The seminar will address Reasonable Impediment, Absentee Voting, Provisional Ballots and answer the following questions:

  • What types of photo ID will be accepted at the polls?
  • What can voters do if they don’t have one of the listed acceptable IDs?
  • Where can voters get an ID card?
  • Is there a charge for a NC ID card?
  • What information do voters need to provide to get a NC ID card?

 

The North Carolina State Board of Elections is the state agency charged with overall responsibility for administration of the elections process and campaign finance disclosure in North Carolina. The office of the State Board of Elections works in conjunction with County Board of Elections offices to ensure that elections are conducted lawfully and fairly.
