9:24 p.m: The State Board of Elections will hold a remote emergency meeting beginning at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2022.
2:50 p.m: This week, county boards of elections across North Carolina began sending absentee-by-mail ballots to registered voters who requested them for the May 17 primary and certain municipal elections.
10:31 a.m: A number of voter advocacy and political organizations have begun to send mass mailings to voters and prospective voters across North Carolina as the 2022 statewide primary election approaches.
4:04 p.m: Absentee-by-mail voters in North Carolina will be able to track the status of their ballots for the May 17 statewide primary election.

5:34 pm: The NC State Board of Elections on Monday approved in-person early voting plans for the 2022 primary election for Bladen, Columbus, Gates, Lincoln, Pasquotank, Surry, and Chatham counties.
