In-person early voting for the November 2023 municipal elections begins Thurs, Oct. 19, and ends Sat, Nov. 4 for voters in about 385 NC municipalities.

The following are prepared remarks of Karen Brinson Bell, executive director of the NC State Board of Elections, at a virtual press availability at 9 a.m.

Voter registration deadlines are approaching for eligible individuals who wish to vote on Election Day in October and November municipal elections.

The in-person early voting period for September 2023 municipal elections in Charlotte and Sanford begins Thursday, August 24, and ends Saturday, September 9.

The turnout was on par with the nearly 136,500 voters who cast ballots on the first day of in-person early voting in 2018.

North Carolina’s in-person early voting period begins Thursday, October 20, and ends at 3 p.m. Saturday, November 5.

Beginning Friday, September 9, North Carolina’s county boards of elections will begin mailing absentee ballots to voters who request them for the 2022 general election.
