State Board of Elections staff will hold a random drawing at 5:15 p.m. Friday, March 8, to determine the order of candidates on primary and general election ballots in the special election for the 3rd Congressional District.
The candidate filing period for District 3 ends at 5 p.m. Friday. A special election was called after the passing of Congressman Walter B. Jones Jr.
A separate drawing will be held at 5:15 p.m. Friday, March 15, to determine candidate order in the new election for the 9th Congressional District. Candidate filing for District 9 runs from March 11-15.
Both drawings will be streamed on Facebook Live on the State Board’s Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/NCSBE/. A news release will be sent out after each drawing is held.
The order of candidates on official ballots is determined by N.C.G.S. § 163A-1114(c).
