Judge James L. Baker was sworn in today as the third Republican member of the bipartisan State Board of Elections. Gov. Pat McCrory appointed Baker to fill the seat held by Paul Foley, who resigned in July.

The State Board of Elections today released the results of a study regarding wait times across North Carolina during the 2014 General Election.  Counties reported to the State Board that lines never topped one hour at 90% of early voting sites or at 98% of precinct polling locations on Election Day.

The State Board of Elections today announced that Gov. Pat McCrory has awarded Don Wright The  Order of the Long Leaf Pine, one the state’s most prestigious civilian honors.  Wright will retire Monday from his post as longtime general counsel to the Board of Elections. He is a 30-year veteran of state government.

The State Board of Elections today released demographic statistics for the 2014 General Election. Results showed a 16% increase in participation by African Americans and and 18% higher participation among voters aged 18-25 statewide compared to 2010, the last midterm election cycle.  (CORRECTED 3/12/15)
