North Carolina State Board of Elections executive director Sam Hayes has issued a pair of statements on decisions issued Thursday in U.S. District Court, Middle District of North Carolina.
The State Board of Elections on Wednesday unanimously certified the results of the 2026 primary election for all contests across the state, except for the federal contests for U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives Districts 1, 3, 6, 10, 11, and 13.
The county boards of elections in Guilford and Rockingham counties on Tuesday morning will begin a partial hand recount of ballots in randomly selected precincts in the N.C. Senate District 26 contest between candidates Phil Berger and Sam Page.

The State Board of Elections has received a request for a hand recount in a random sample of precincts in the Republican primary election for N.C. Senate District 26, which includes all of Rockingham County and part of Guilford County.
