In an ongoing effort to educate and inform every voter in North Carolina about voter ID requirements, the State Board of Elections will speak to voters in Perquimans County on Saturday, February 20. The voter education seminar is part of a Black History Month celebration conducted by the “Why Not Perquimans” organization and the Perquimans County NAACP.

The State Board of Elections will hold a non-partisan voter ID educational seminar, Thursday, February 11, at 7pm. The seminar open to the public will take place at the Harnett County Courthouse, 301 West Cornelius Blvd., in Lillington. The event is sponsored by the Harnett County Democratic Party.

The State Board of Elections has posted a webpage containing additional information and documents regarding the special filing period for Superior Court Districts 10C (Wake County) and 20B (Union County). Elections will be for new eight-year terms.

The State Board of Elections will hold a teleconference meeting on Wednesday, February 10, 2016, at 2:00 p.m.

The State Board of Elections today released a new public service announcement designed to educate voters on the 2016 voter ID requirements. The “Be Recognized” ads will air on local television and radio through the 2016 Election cycle, the goal is to make sure every voice is heard at the voting booth. This election voters will be asked to show a photo ID at the polls. If for some reason a voter can’t get an ID, they will still be able to vote.

A. Grant Whitney, Jr. was unanimously selected as Chairman and sworn in today, Friday, January 15, as the third Republican member of the bipartisan State Board of Elections. The Honorable Ann Marie Calabria administered the oath and Whitney’s family was present for the ceremony.

The State Board of Elections will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. in the Auditorium of the Office for Regional Initiatives at the University of North Carolina Pembroke (located in the Carolina Commerce and Technology Center, or COMtech), 115 Livermore Drive, Pembroke, NC.

The North Carolina State Board of Elections and the Lee County Board of Elections will hold a public meeting, Thursday, January 7, 2016 at 6pm at the Old Courthouse, 1400 South Horner Blvd., Courtroom #4 in Sanford. The meeting is to inform the public about Photo ID requirements effective as of January 1, 2016.

The State Board of Elections today announced that 27 presidential candidates will appear on North Carolina’s presidential primary ballot. The North Carolina presidential primary will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2016.
