The State Board of Elections is offering free seminars about the photo ID requirement for voting to help ensure that voters have the information they need before casting their ballot in the 2024 general election.
The Voter Photo ID Seminar informs attendees about the new ID requirement for voting in North Carolina. It covers acceptable forms of photo ID for voting, expected experiences for voters at early voting sites and Election Day polling places, and how registered voters can get a free photo ID if they do not have one.
Another seminar, the Accessibility in Voting Seminar, provides information aimed at helping voters with disabilities to vote, including the online portal where visually impaired voters may request and submit their ballot, curbside voting, and related topics. This seminar also provides information about the photo ID requirement.
State Board staff can present these seminars in person anywhere in North Carolina or online via Microsoft Teams.
“These seminars further our efforts to provide a robust outreach campaign to North Carolina voters about the photo ID requirement,” said Karen Brinson Bell, executive director of the State Board of Elections. “We hope civic clubs, community centers, churches, academic organizations, and others will request a seminar for their group.”

How to Request a Seminar?
Any interested group can request a seminar at Seminar Requests on the State Board of Elections website, NCSBE.gov. Requesters will be asked for their name, organization, contact information, the proposed date and time for their event, and the type of seminar requested.
Seminar requests will be considered on a first come, first served basis and scheduled according to staff availability. The photo ID seminars are in addition to many other ID-related outreach efforts planned for the coming months across North Carolina, including paid advertising on TV, radio, billboards, social media, and websites. State and county election officials also are issuing news releases, hosting media events, responding to questions from the media and public, and posting information on social media about the ID requirement for voting.
